...Well, I have a sudden very vivid image of li'l!Ashley, standing on a chair in front of his dresser in near-pitch darkness, shushing his Uncle Blackie very earnestly because they're trying to sneak up on the monster in the mirror and it mustn't hear them creeping around.

I think that may be your answer right there. *dies!*
