I was Useful today! :D

I was at the bitty campus today, and I got to sit at a desk of my own and with a computer that I now have the logins for. *grins* The IT guys haven't put another programme I need on that computer yet, but I won't be back there until monday anyway so that works out. I got to tell the new Duty Pupils where to sit and where to put their bags, I told someone where my line manager had gone when they needed to find her and what I knew about the staff cover forms and referred her to the other office lady when she was free, I spent the afternoon sorting and checking the entire school's worth of tutor groups for people who'd moved or left the school and had the Office Lady tell me that I'd just given her a big head-start on the term's work - and I got to go home early. ^______^

...Which was lucky, really, since at first I couldn't find my phone for the life of me (right at the bottom of my pocket under my mass of keys, gah) and then my key bent in my bike lock. O_O Still, I got home while the sun was setting and had no trouble avoiding the ice and frozen puddles, so I'm not about to complain. :D And I got a scalding-hot bath tonight as well as Koi's stir-fry. *glee!*

I am also absolutely shattered and probably going to go to bed in the next few minutes. *collapse* Night, guys!

Rejoice, oh my people, for I now have more than one bath towel.

Unfortunately it got used for insulation as much as getting me dry, since the Cold Water Fairy apparently visited somewhere between my stepping into the bath and sitting down, since I would swear there weren't icy-cold spots in my nice warm bubbly bathwater before then. *zooms under duveet and shivers*

On the other hand, work went pretty well. I got up like a zombie and had to blink pretty hard to stay awake at points, but I'm blaming that on night-before nerves and waking up at half five in a panic, thinking I was late for work. (Hey, it was pitch black outside when I got up too, how was I to know? XP) The sudden attack of ZOMG SNOW! in the morning made getting to work an adventure, but the terrifyingly long list of 'oh, when we get you trained, you can do thisandthisandthisandthisandthisandthis for us too, as well as the exams! :D' aside, I think I can do this. The computer programmes all seem to be mostly common sense - when they work - so all I really have to worry about is getting used to eight am starts again. *collapses in a heap*

For now, though, I'm going to shake off the icicles and get a hot drink. <strike>And keep reminding myself that this isn't retail and yes, I do have to go in for five consecutive days.</strike>

Nearly there.

Okay - I've just triple-checked the bike route down to Radegund Road, sorted my room and what I'm going to wear, and packed my bag with diary, notebook, keys and my new purse (since my old one was getting worn out at the edges and didn't really have room for the cards I kept in there anyway - and the new one smells of leather. Mmm.) I've imported my new CD, made Fiorello a new icon since he cut his hair a while ago and is generally far perkier these days than his other icon would suggest...all I need to do is wash and dry my hair into something approaching tidiness, and I'm good to go. *deep breath*

...Finding out some cough medicine might be favourite too. -_-;

There's a bag of clothes that needs to be charity-shopped at some point, probably saturday now, and I really do need to hoover in here, but - we'll see how jittery I get and how badly I need a distraction. ^_^;

I also re-found Pepper's mum's recipe for honey curry chicken, and if Koi wasn't making noises about doing tuna mac later I'd try it. *rereads* Oh, and Pepper? From the other night. *grins*

First of January 2009 - I wake up with my period and a stomach ache/horribleness from last night's dinner. I really hope this isn't a sign of things to come, though it could well be a pretty accurate analogy for most of 2008...

*flops inna heap* ^_^

Eeeheehee. Trevor and Mum bought themselves a Wii for Christmas - which means that I've been doing better at bowling than I ever would have IRL. I suck at ten-pin bowling, but I was doing better than my Grandad, and he actually plays bowls competitively. XDDD I'm really impressed that my Nan and Grandad had such a good time playing with it, actually - normally they're fairly put off by computers in general, but they really had a good time with this one. ^_^ I still think Trevor's Mii looks like the guy from Are You Being Served, though - and for all that he was my favourite character in the series, I can never remember his name. *frowns*

My Big Nanna was really quiet again yesterday, though. :/ She was the last time I saw her a couple of weeks ago, but I really just want to hope that Mum's right and she's still getting over the 'flu that's been going around. It's not like her at all to sit in near-silence all day.

Enough food to sink a battleship means I get plenty of leftovers - before Ben and Lucy come over, anyway! - so I'm going to scrounge up a sandwich for lunch. I couldn't face breakfast, but lunch and Boxing Day telly sounds like a good idea to me. ^_^ As does staying in my new nightshirt, which not only looks like I should be wearing a Scrooge cap with it, it's got roses around the cuffs and on the shirt pocket. *squee!* ...No noticeable increase in perv/libido, but I don't doubt that Briar's still finding this terribly amusing.

...And! The Best Present Ever - I got a hot glue gun. Muahahahaaaaa! *gleeful cackle* Oh, this is going to be fun. >D (I also got a McFly CD, but I'm going to take that as a step forward since normally my Nanna gets me something with china mice and watercolours involved. *mildly bemused*) ...Glue guuuuuun! I'm going to be the fastest cosplayer in the West! Cardoom costume, here I come... >DDDDD

Right!

I've got - twenty-three minutes to midnight, to totally bulldoze an Iron Maiden song, so I'm going to freely admit that I suck at Christmas cards and have done for the last two years, so this is for teamromy and theweranarchist; instead of a Christmas card, have the entire King's College Choir in their annual carol concert. Happy Christmas, guys. ^_^ (And if you ever want any chibis of anyone or anything, shout. I like doing nice things for my friends, but the 'flu killed me dede. *abashed*)

To everyone else, whether they're in Christmas card range or not - have a fantastic holiday-of-your-choice, may you be spoiled rotten and fed all kinds of good food, and I'll see you whenever the hell I next get to a computer. I have to do a James Bond impression and hide the router when my brother gets here on Boxing Day. XD *Merry hugs to you all, and to all a good night!*

Now, one last thing before I bugger off to see if I still count as a Good Girl and present-worthy - stolen from teamromy, if I remember right.

The problem with IJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other.

So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about.

Ask away.

Then post this in your IJ and find out what people don't know about you!

Indulge me. I'll be bored come Boxing Day. ;D

Love you all, guys, and take care of each other. And now I'm dashing off to my camp bed before Father Christmas turns up - apparently he's over Senegal at the moment, so I'd better run! *squees*

(And Pepper? Remind me to tell you about the image-bunny I had for an alternative Nativity. XD If Shinra didn't want to murder me before...)

I think I can manage 'accomplished' today...

I can breathe! Woohoo! :D

Slept like a comatose log for about ten hours, I think, so ever so slightly less knackered than I was yesterday. ^_^; You can tell, I managed a Bath - and when I say it took actual effort to get me to have a bath, you know something's up - and cleared out the living room for Decorating purposes. (Wanna Christmas treeeee! :D) Thus, new house rule - when you're done with something, either bin it, recycle it or Put It Back Where It Came From, or 'Boots will eat your face. :D I found an old floppy disk underneath the Seige Perilous, and if I ever figure out who keeps leaving grotty tissues around the place there shall be Ring Cycle levels of trauma delt out, ohyes. *twitch*

...That said, I'm leaving the hoovering for today. No spoons left. *flop!* I aso need to figure out where the hell I'm going to put said Seige Perilous, since it can't live here anymore and I flat-out don't have the heart to chuck it...

I can't make flailynoises or laugh yet, it makes me cough. I'm counting on other people to do it for me. ^_^;;

'Cause, really, with all the talk of melting around here, how could you not? ^_^;

I like the expressions and the mind-reading-powers bit. Sue me. ^^

...Hee.
Er...

I don't know if it's just me - probably is - but.

When you find a large-sized, highly detailed canon picture of a certain silver-haired Evil Villain (not that that narrows it down much!) for reference purposes, and you spend a good few minutes staring at his legs...

...Does anyone else wonder how on earth Sephiroth gets his boots on? I can't see any zips or laces on those things, aside from the two buckles <strike>that look like garters shootmenow</strike>, and skinny as he is in places he's just got too much muscle on his calves for something that close-fitting to simply slide on without any way of at least loosening them a bit, no matter how loose the tops look. (That could just be boots/legOTP envy talking there, mind.) And how does he stop his socks falling down? The guy's in the army, for heaven's sakes; this kind of stuff matters when you're marching all damn day and can't spare a Cure for the blisters, never mind how good your healing factor might be.

I don't know whether it's being ill, the 'flu medicine or the cough stuff that's bringing out the crazy, but I'd like the weird dreams to stop now, plz. I somehow doubt I'm physically capable of wiggling the power cables on the telegraph poles loose, even if the poncho my mum made me is dangling up there.

*gluggle*

I think the top of my head might actually be about to come off... So long as it takes some of the gunk out of my lungs with it, I suppose I can live with that.

Dreaming about being ill, still, and going back to Royston, I might want to skip. If only because I was walking down the long, straight road between my old schools and the little corner shop, a sheet wrapped around my shoulders and wearing what were either my red leggings or this, and getting the same yelled comments as I used to when I was actually at school there. "What the fuck're you wearing?", "Fuck off, fatty!", scornful laughing; variations of the same happened to everybody at school, yes?

What was odd was meeting Wolf in front of the corner shop - and him suddenly becoming this stringy-haired, grungy old man who almost started crying when I recognised him, took me by the shoulders and started babbling something about not letting 'them' come to get me. Again oddly, this didn't freak me out. Possibly because all I wanted to do was buy my cold medicine and go home.

...Why the small crowd of snotty boys gathering behind me took this as an opportunity to demonstrate my stupidity by telling me that if I wasn't in the line, I should get out of the way, I do not know. Line? Bwuh-what?

I ended up back at my mum's house hiding, I don't remember what from, feeling no better and without the cold/flu stuff that I'd - come all the way from Cambridge to get. Why dream-me didn't just go to the One-Stop down our road in the first place, I don't know.

Waugh!

Okay, that was a startlement I didn't need. You know when you think you have everything done and sorted and ready to go, only to find something's exploded in your giant laser of the week and the hero's about to escape?

...Bad metaphor aside, I just got an email back from the School Job saying that no, actually, they aren't going to work around me thank you very much, I'd be there on the fifth of January or else.

I went D: and panicked for a minute there, I can tell you.

So, now I have to go into work tomorrow and say O hai, bossman, I need to go a week before I said I would because New Place Of Work has changed their minds about being nice and accomodating!

Says something about how tired I am that it threw me quite that much. *flop*

EDIT: ...I think I must be going bonkers. I could have sworn I just heard a knock at the door, but...

I'm finding it quietly amusing that I mistyped 'update' as 'updare'. *snerks* Roddy, that you?

...This, on the other hand, is me being noisily amused.

So, after a total of three phonecalls and a fair bit of pestering, I finally got a yes/no verdict on the University job - I didn't get it, but I'm more narked about not hearing for three weeks while the HR person went on holiday than anything else. *grumbles* As it is, I've told the people at the school that yes, I can start at the beginning of January after I help with Past Times' January sales, and short of phoning the doctors' tomorrow to find out the dates of various vaccinations I had as a kid for the medical form, I'm good to go on that one.

In short, that's one less pressing issue to deal with; now I just have to deal with a month of background-anxiety until I actually start and to force myself to remember that I don't have to keep noting all the Help Wanted signs I see. XP I've got everyone's Christmas presents bought, wrapped and sorted, though, aside from Mikki's. Another thing down.

Put your music player on shuffle and write down the first lines of the first twenty songs to make a poem. The twenty-first first line is the title.

I Get Up

Sirens are screaming and the fires are howling
The art of suicide,
When I was wandering in the desert
She waits for me at night

Hate you father for you have sinned
Headless, pulling the machine down
I can't remember anything,
All my friends are talking to me

If I woke up tomorrow
Somethin' is wrong with some of us
I'm proud to be a banker!
Baby I'm an atom bomb

Oh, get up on your feet
When I was a kid I wanted to grow up and be cop in a province town or county
Where you gonna run
There is lamb's wool under my naked feet

Never said I'd promise anything
Smut!
No-one mourns the wicked
Since you're feeling so aenesthetised

.....Yeah, that's about what I was expecting.
